Satisfied and Thirsty – AW Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me hunger for more. I am painfully conscience of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, the triune God, I want to want Thee, I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love in me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away."(SoS 2:10) Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wandered so long. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Put the Word into Practice - Thomas Boston

1 John 2:4–6; 2 Timothy 3:14–16
Whatever you learn from the word, labor to put it in practice. For to him that has shall be given. No wonder they get little insight into the Bible who make no conscience of practicing what they know. But while the stream runs into a holy life, the fountain will be the more free.

A Christian’s Greatest Work Is in the Heart – Richard Baxter

Matthew 12:34–35; 15:18; Luke 6:45
The first and great work of a Christian is about his heart. There it is that God dwells by his Spirit, in his saints; and there it is that sin and Satan reign, in the ungodly. The great duties and the great sins are those of the heart. There is the root of good and evil: the tongue and life are but the fruits and expressions of that which dwells within.
Richard Baxter 1615-1691

They Would Seek Heaven – DL Moody

If people would but read their Bibles more, and study what there is to be found there about heaven, they would not be as worldly-minded as they are. They would not have their hearts set upon things down here, but would seek the imperishable things above.
D. L. Moody, Heaven: Where It Is, Its Inhabitants, and How to Get There (Chicago: Fleming H. Revell, 1884), 10.

Jesus can understand you

Fear not because your prayer is stammering, your words feeble, and your language poor. Jesus can understand you.
