It is clear, therefore, that the law still retains this use; it discovers sin in us. 'I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet' (Rom. 7:7); and similarly with all sins. This it does, after grace has come, as well as before grace; that which was sin before is sin now; grace does not alter the nature of sin, though it does set the believer free from the fruits and condemnation of it.
